My U2 New Year’s Resolutions!

Is tonight not the most overrated holiday in history? Believe me when I tell you, I don’t need an old year to end and a new one to begin to get drunk out of my mind and to do stupid things. That’s like a weekly thing with me. I do like New Year’s resolutions, however. The thought of actually saying I’m going to do something and give up on it two days later is both invigorating and depressing at the same time, nevertheless I still make them each year….but this year is different. I’m making two lists of resolutions, 1 personal and 1 U2. You can guess the personal, it’s like everyone else’s: lose a few pounds, be more patient and nicer, you know the garbage resolutions that get destroyed the second some idiot cuts me off in the hallway from getting to my 2nd piece of cheesecake a second sooner. However, this year I am resolute to keep my U2 resolutions. These I will be persistent in following through to the bitter end of the year, even if it kills me. Agree-disagree, it does not matter, they’re mine and I own them.

I resolve:

To continue to think that NLOTH is one of U2’s worst CD’s and not give in to the nut jobs who think it’s anything but average. Fez, Being Born….REALLY?

To not be drunk for any of the three shows I see in Boston. I will have a very good continuous buzz going from the beginning of the 1st show until the ending of the last show, but I have waited too long to see U2 again, just to wake up hung over and not remember one thing.

To thank U2.com for not only the pre-sale codes, but much more importantly, introducing me to some of my best U2 friends on earth.  Most will be joining me in Boston for the shows and I am so proud to call them my friends.

To continue to walk out into that summer street and scream at the top of my lungs that SOI is U2’s best work….EVER!

To go another year without watching Million Dollar Hotel…once was twice too many

To continue to applaud U2’s delivery of SOI. I and millions more loved the free, generous gift and play it often.

To revel in the misery of the few, but boisterous haters of U2, especially Sharon Osborne.  Knowing that she has to spend most of her day with a drool cup under Ozzy’s chin immediately brings me to my happy place.

To remain optimistic that Songs of Experience will come out in 2015.

To laugh at those who think Coldplay is the next U2 or even remotely close.

To laugh louder at the Twitter twits and Face Bookers that post New Year’s Day videos on New Year’s Day & think they’re creative and or funny.  At my 4th of July parties, I blast U2’s 4th of July.  It goes over really well????

To cringe anytime Bono goes near any mode of transportation without full body armor.

To punch the next person in the throat who mispronounces Bono’s name. The 1st “O” is not a long vowel sound!

To become a friend to a U2 fan that lives within 25 miles of my house. Not one of my friends that live near me is a U2 fan….not 1!

To enjoy every second of the U2 show I am bringing my 8 year old son to this July. It will be his 1st and I will cherish every moment of it.

To continue to try to write posts that make people laugh, think differently or reflect. I know you’re still waiting for my 1st one & I promise to try better next year.  😉

Happy New Year
