U2 Elevation Columbus 5.7.01

MyMusicalJourneyThe morning after the U2 Elevation show in Pittsburgh, I flew to Columbus, OH for the show at Nationwide Arena that night. My head still hurt from where I hit it in the GA line in Pittsburgh. Even though I enjoyed my first time inside the heart in Pittsburgh, being that close to the stage, I stood at the tip of the heart in Columbus – still thinking it was the best spot. “Pride” and “One” were my highlights of the Columbus show. U2 also played “Gone,” “Kite,” “Stay” and “Desire.” Bono sounded so great! He was doing some amazing things with his voice. Bono gave the guy next to me his harmonica after “Desire.” I really wanted that harmonica – I thought he was giving it to me when he leaned down.

After the show, I thought about how I couldn’t imagine what it was going to be like after the tour ends. Obviously, I loved going to the shows, but it was more than that. It was the feeling of a community, knowing everyone around you feels the same way. I loved traveling around and meeting all those great people. It was tiring, but so amazing!

The set list for the Elevation show in Columbus on 5.7.01 was as follows: Elevation, Beautiful Day, Until the End of the World, New Year’s Day, Stuck In a Moment, Gone, Kite, New York, I Will Follow, Sunday Bloody Sunday, In a Little While, Desire, Stay, Bad, Where the Streets Have No Name, Mysterious Ways, The Fly, Bullet the Blue Sky, With or Without You, Pride, One, Walk On.

I have finally found what I am looking for - all because of U2. I am writing my U2 memoir called "On the Road with U2: my musical journey." It is about the 75 U2 shows I've been to since ZooTv, including my three-month road trip during the last leg of the 360 Tour where I drove to every US concert. More than just the concerts, it is about the places I've been, the people I've met, and my quest to meet Larry.
